What is a Meetup?

Meetup is used to find and join groups of people who share your interests. These groups can be anything from hiking clubs to book clubs to professional networking groups. Once you find a group that you’re interested in, you can attend their events, meet new people, and learn new things.

Here are some specific ways that Meetup can be used:

  • Meet new people: Meetup is a great way to meet new people who share your interests. This can be a great way to make friends, find romantic partners, or simply expand your social circle.
  • Learn new things: There are Meetup groups for just about every topic imaginable, so you can use Meetup to learn new skills, explore new ideas, or just get inspired.
  • Get involved in your community: Meetup groups can be a great way to get involved in your community. You can volunteer with a local organization, meet other people who care about the same issues as you, or simply learn more about your community.
  • Network professionally: Meetup groups can also be a great way to network professionally. You can meet people who work in your field, learn about new opportunities, or simply build relationships that could help you in your career.

To use Meetup, you first need to create an account. Once you have an account, you can search for groups in your area that interest you. You can also browse groups by category, date, or location. Once you find a group that you’re interested in, you can join it and start attending events.

Meetup is a free service, but there are some premium features that you can pay for. These features include the ability to create your own group, send private messages to other members, and get early access to events.

Overall, Meetup is a great resource for meeting new people, learning new things, and getting involved in your community. If you’re looking for a way to connect with others who share your interests, I encourage you to check out Meetup.

Here are some additional tips for using Meetup:

  • Be specific when searching for groups. The more specific you are, the more likely you are to find a group that’s a good fit for you.
  • Read the group’s description carefully before joining. This will give you a good idea of what the group is about and what kind of events they host.
  • Be active in the group. Attend events, participate in discussions, and get to know other members.
  • Be patient. It takes time to build relationships with other Meetup members. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t find your perfect group right away.

In Cozumel Cindy Trautwein organized a Meetup Cozumel five years ago with the help of Cyndi Phillips.  The group meets every other Tuesday at different business locations of the month. This allows the attendees to get exposure to other businesses  their menus and service.  Hosting the group is been between 40 and 120 people depending on the time of the season.  Recently, a music bingo has been added to one of the Tuesdays to raise money for local interests.

This has been an extraordinary opportunity for others to meet and net work between each other for their special interest and create new groups. Some of those groups might be playing cards. Some of them may be snorkeling some of them have even been parents of  young children and starting their own group, called Cozumel parents and kid.

You can find out more information about Meetup Cozumel on this link. Please join the group. https://m.facebook.com/groups/463815510459666

The only posts are the next meet up information and the last events. It’s people to people beyond posting on social media.

So please come to the next meetup or suggest to anyone.  Perhaps those , thinking of moving to Cozumel or already living in Cozumel to join
